Chaldean America Student Association
Born at El Cajon Valley High School
A new CASA (Chaldean America Student Association) has been formed at ECV (El Cajon Valley High School.
CASA was honored to have Fr. Noel Gorgis as the first Guest speaker at their first official meeting. Fr, Noel instructed our beloved teens about the importance of working together as a team to build out home “CASA” where all Chaldeans are ONE to build their community.
The mission of CASA is to support Chaldean students with their needs and educate the non-Chaldeans about the Chaldean Culture through guest speakers, lectures, dance, food, etc.
Last week was the multicultural celebrations at ECV, which is the most important festivities at the ECV. CASA played an important role to present about the Chaldean culture. On Wednesday, November 17, 2010 CASA did a power point presentation, a dance performance, and a nice display. The next day, Thursday, November 18, 2010, the Chaldeans had two large groups of students who presented three dances at the multicultural assembly. Ms. Vanessa Sliwa, a counselor, and Ms. Leena Somo, a teacher, helped out put this together. On Friday, November 19, 2010, CASA participated in the multicultural food, Kabob sale, it was a great success. CASA sold out within the first 15 minutes. All students were thrilled to take part at all these events.
CASA of ECV would like to ask our community leaders to support this club with a monetary gift. CASA’s next projects are to order T-shirts and raise money to sew Chaldean traditional clothes to be part of the ECV annual multicultural performance.
Last but not least, CASA would like to invite professionals in different fields from our community to speak to our youngsters. The goal is to help our young people seek out and develop their future goals with the support of their older brothers and sisters from their community.
