Bishop Bawai Soro "The Chaldeans, ancient & contemporary, are the most legitimate heirs of Babylon"
- اقتباس :
In an eloquent talk that lasted for nearly one hour, His Excellency Bishop Bawai Soro gave a lecture titled “The New Babylon: Living our Perennial Call Today”.
Present at the lecture, which took place at Saint Peter Church hall, were the Eparch of our Diocese, HE Bishop Sarhad Yawsip Jammo, Father Noel Gorgis, the director of the Chaldean Media Center and more than 300 other Chaldeans of San Diego. The event was hosted by the Knights of Columbus - Mar Toma Council.
Bishop Bawai showed how modern Chaldeans are uniquely related a host of biblical personalities, Christian traditions and divine values, which connect Chaldeans to the History of Salvation. “Abraham, the Father of Faith and the Chaldean Magi came from Babylon. They were inspired by God so that all the earth’s nations will be brought back to him and to his Son. And, in proximity to Abraham, the Blessed Mother and her Son, Jesus the Son of God, are also closely related to the Chaldeans. They spoke Aramaic, the language of Mesopotamia and the Chaldeans” Bishop Soro maintained.
The Bishop, time and again, encouraged all Chaldeans to continue serving the divine plan by honoring their Chaldean culture, ecclesial tradition, ancient forefathers and the Chaldean identity. He thanked God for delivering many Chaldeans from the harm that continues to be inflicted in the Middle East.“Let’s all pray for Iraq, the Christians there, especially the Chaldeans”. “At the same time, the Chaldeans who are living in the west, especially in the USA, are endowed with many blessings and are granted many talents. We thus must give back to God, by loving all the people of the world and by serving them. Bishop Bawai declared. “Remember, there is a purpose why there are so many of us in the West, with so much liberties and wealth, with strong stability and inspiring leaders”. “Be prepared to continue your labor for the sake of God’s Kingdom”, the bishop urged his Chaldean brothers and sisters to do.
