UT San Diego: 3 fined by State Political Panel

Violators include former San Ysidro Superintendent and El Cajon business leader

اقتباس :: A former El Cajon City Council candidate, the ousted superintendent of San Ysidro schools and an Arizona lobbyist racked up $16,000 in fines last week for violating state campaign finance laws.
The fines, approved by California’s Fair Political Practices Commission, were agreed to by the recipients, investigators said. They were:
• Manuel Paul, former superintendent of the San Ysidro School District, was fined $5,000 for accepting $2,500 in cash in a steakhouse parking lot from contractor Loreto Romero in 2010, money Paul later said was for school board campaigns. The payment exceeded the $420 gift limit then allowed from a single source. In connection with the same payment, Paul pleaded no contest in a federal corruption probe on Aug. 20. He will be sentenced on that charge in December and faces a fine of up to $100,000. The state political case was completed in partnership with the U.S. Attorney’s Office in San Diego, investigators said.
