Chaldeans Youth gathers for 'The walk for life' in Los Angeles

The city of Los Angeles was abuzz with life today. Thousands of people from the elderly to the young, families of fathers and mothers with their children, youth groups, priests, nuns, and seminarians descended on the city for a walk for life. It was in response to a call from the los Angeles catholic diocese to show solidarity with the right of life to the unborn babies and to protest against abortion. Many came to the rally from different cities throughout southern California. They carried banners that said: “peace begins in the womb”, “woman deserves better than abortion”, “stop abortion now” and many other signs that celebrate life. A large section of down town Los Angeles was blocked off to traffic to let the march go through several blocks of the city. The archbishop of Los Angeles and many dignitaries attended the event. After the march, people gathered to listen to several speakers give their testimonies about the tragedy of abortion this country is experiencing and some miraculous events to women that respected life and kept their babies. Bands played music and big screens televised the event. The knights of Columbus were active is organizing this event. Our council at St. Peter Chaldean Catholic Church, Mar Toma council, had a bus of many of our parishioners to the event and was among many councils that showed their support. Our members carried prolife banners and the Chaldean flag were recognized by many who were marching. It was a successful event from the thousands that were there. The sunny beautiful day was also helpful to get people to gather for this walk for life.
