The holy see and the Chaldean church

Raymond George
اقتباس :
Today there are approximately 1.2 billion faithful in the world that follow the teachings of the Lord, Jesus Christ by adhering to the one Holy Apostolic Catholic Church headed by the Pope, Bishop of Rome.
With the primacy and authority entrusted by our Lord to St. Peter the Apostle, it is well known that the ecclesiastic jurisdiction of the entire Catholic Church today lies in the hand of the Pope.
The importance of the Pope, Successor of St. Peter the Apostle in the life of every Catholic individual stems from the manifestation and the adherence of every Catholic diocese wherever it is to the Holy See. The Second Vatican Council of 1965 confirmed that all bishops should be united within themselves as one with the Pope and so the obedience to the Holy See is fundamental and required by every Catholic diocese and its faithful.
Today, the Chaldean Church is one of the 23 Easter rites in the Catholic world that follow and abide by the Holy See in its daily Christian livelihood.
The supremacy of St. Peter and his successor the Pope of Rome is an essential prerequisite of being Catholic so its inaccurate nor permissible for those to criticize by saying the Chaldean church is following the directions from the Vatican because the truth of the matter is that the Chaldean Church and the other Eastern churches are one body with the Holy See and only then can function as One United Church.
It is ironic to hear criticism and voices of concerns by few that the Holy See should not have the final word in decisions related to our Chaldean Church while reluctant and even silent in objecting to the interference and the influence of the local governments in the daily life of our churches.
The sensitivity of the geopolitics surrounding many countries of the world especially in the Middle East for the past hundred years has put direct and indirect pressure and influence on the churches which handicapped the freedom of making decisions by the leaders of these local churches.
Far from the atrocity of authoritarian governments that don't respect human life accompanied by uncivilized societies that look at religion as a parameter and a tool to be in the hands of a government, we the Catholics of the East should not only welcome but appreciate and signify the importance of the Holy See having the ultimate jurisdiction in church matters.
Successful leadership and administration of the church will be compromised when the politics of a third world country plays a role. In the Middle East, for example freedom of religion has historically not been allowed, and today more than any other time, with the current events, even freedom of worship is questionable because of the lack of security and the existence of anti-Christian philosophies and movements encouraged and even sponsored by the local governments.
The organizational apparatus within the Catholic Church puts the Pope (The Holy See) on the top of the Catholic hierarchy and any kind of deviation from the authority of the successor of St. Peter will not only mean distancing from the One Holy Catholic Church but a revolt and isolation from the Catholic body.
Today, having more than 60% of the faithful of the Chaldean Church live in the Diaspora within such dioceses as St. Thomas of Michigan-USA, St. Peter of Western United States, Mar Addai of Canada, Mar Toma of Australia and New Zealand beside those parishes of Europe, to be in full communion with the Holy See is not only a must but more needed than any other time and gives strength and power to our Chaldean Church.
In my humble opinion, as Catholic, it is a blessing for us to have our Chaldean Church and all its dioceses under the umbrella and jurisdiction of the Holy See.
