| Chaldeans in 64th Mother Goose Parade By: Nancy Shamon "Cradle of Civilization" Every year in El Cajon, California, USA an annual parade is held the Sunday before the week of Thanksgiving. The 64th Mother Goose Parade fell on November, 21, 2010. This was the first year that the Chaldeans joined. The float was built over a period of month, thanks to the volunteers of the church, Rayadh Gaboola and others. Gate of Ishtar was built with Hammurabi's tablet and the Hanging Gardens of Babylon were portrayed from King Nebuchadnezzar's era on the float. Several students from El Cajon Valley High School played the parts of King Nebuchadnezzar, his queen, and people during the parade. Music of the Chaldean culture was played and the students danced a dance in every chapter of the Mother Goose Parade. Even though it was raining consistently, the students were always in high spirits, especially the crowd, and the Chaldean community of El Cajon, CA. | |
