A Statement of Clarification in Regard to His Excellency Bishop Mar Bawai Soro





We the Chaldean members of CCPA, a coalition of Chaldean cultural and civic organizations in San Diego, strongly believe that it is our duty to reply to the “Statement of Clarification” by the Synod of Bishops of the Assyrian Church of the East, dated 11/11/2010, in regard to the priestly and Episcopal ministry of a beloved hierarch of our Chaldean Church, His Excellency Bishop Mar Bawai Soro.

Since January 2009 His Excellency Mar Bawai has faithfully served our Chaldean people in San Diego. We, along with our families, are blessed to have this great spiritual Bishop and leader as a part of our church. For this, we thank our beloved Eparch His Excellency Mar Sarhad Yawsip Jammo for both his courageous vision and pastoral plan for welcoming Bishop Mar Bawai among us.

We wish to state our deep appreciation for Bishop Mar Bawai and recognize in him the virtues of a genuine priest who so much loves Christ. His teaching, preaching and performance of the Sacraments squarely fit in the context of the ministry of other Chaldean pastors and priests of our Community.

But most significantly, we are completely impressed with Mar Bawai through the spiritual qualifications he possesses. He is always available for our spiritual needs without any hesitations, making us feel we are the center of his love and attention. We, therefore, say in one voice to the Assyrian Bishops that our love, appreciation, and gratitude for His Excellency Mar Bawai have no limits. We are thankful to the Lord for His blessings for having Bishop Mar Bawai among us. We are filled with joy and gratitude to our Lord who hears the prayers of His faithful, who transforms their weaknesses into strengths and their poverty into richness, and who will at the end vindicate those who adhere to His power and imitate His Son in their lives.
